(Dan Tri) – The urban high chassis car segment in our country recorded growth in both the number of products and sales of car models, while creating a new race between manufacturers.

In the list of the 10 best-selling cars in August 2023, there are 8 car models classified as `high chassis`, the remaining 2 are sedans.

Small car group A+/B- attracts first-time car buyers

Duc Hoang, 30 years old, an office worker in Hanoi, is looking to buy the first car for his family after arranging finances of about 600 million VND.

`With that kind of money, you can buy a B-sized sedan with quite spacious space, but if you choose an A+ high-clearance car, it’s not much tighter and is significantly more versatile. My husband and I just got our license and plan to buy a car.

Considering the Kia Sonet but ultimately deciding on the Toyota Raize, Mr. Hoang said he and his wife were satisfied with this decision.

Raize and Sonet create a two-horse race in the small high-clearance car segment A+/B-.

The group of small high-clearance cars is currently a race between Kia Sonet and Toyota Raize.

Raize also competes fairly when possessing many safety equipment such as 6 airbags, ABS, BA, EBD braking system, electronic balance, traction control, blind spot warning, cross-traffic warning.

The A+/B- small high-undercarriage car group in Vietnam also welcomes another competitor, the fully electric VinFast VF 5 Plus.

B-size high chassis vehicle welcomes `rookies` of the Japanese brand

If we consider the urban SUV group Corolla Cross and Raize alone – 2 models from Toyota are dominating the segment.

Not leaving that attractive `piece of cake` open, Toyota launched the Yaris Cross in the Vietnamese market on September 19.

The appearance of the Yaris Cross gives domestic customers more choices for B-sized urban high-riding vehicles.

Yaris Cross is also the only car model in the segment in Vietnam that has the option of a full hybrid gasoline-electric hybrid engine.

With the appearance of the Toyota Yaris Cross in the near future, the competition between Japanese and Korean cars in the B-sized high chassis segment will be more balanced and attractive.

Along with the VF 5 Plus, the appearance of the VF 6 also helps the urban high-rise segment become more diverse in terms of engine choices, in which the VinFast model is a pure electric model with a rechargeable battery.

Corolla Cross and Yaris Cross both have hybrid versions (serial form).

With a hybrid, when the vehicle starts and runs at low speeds, only the electric motor is activated to take advantage of low-speed torque.

Also a hybrid car, Nissan Kicks is a parallel vehicle.

Finally, cars using pure gasoline engines still dominate.

Hybrid cars (in general) have the advantage of fuel economy, only about 4-5 liters/100km on urban roads, but the price is usually about 10-15% higher than pure gasoline versions.
