(Dan Tri) – Messi and C. Ronaldo both did not have enough points to reach the top three shortlisted nominations for the UEFA Best Player title this season.
Last night, UEFA officially announced three shortened nominations for the UEFA Best Player title last season.
Messi and C.Ronaldo were removed from the shortened nomination for the UEFA Best Player award.
They will base their votes on the players’ performances in the European National Championships, European Cups as well as Euro 2020.
As a result, Messi and C. Ronaldo were not included in the top three shortlisted nominations.
Actually, this is not a surprise.
The three nominees for the UEFA Best Player title are De Bruyne, Jorginho, and Kante.
The three nominees for the UEFA Player of the Year award are De Bruyne, Kante and Jorginho.
Jorginho is the number one candidate for this title.
The midfielder born in 1991 is the 10th player in history to win the Champions League and Euro in the same year.
Meanwhile, Kante is a prominent face of Chelsea on their journey to winning the Champions League.
De Bruyne was a key factor in helping Man City win the Premier League title and reach the Champions League final.
In the award for best coach, the three nominees are Pep Guardiola (Man City), Roberto Mancini (Inter), Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea).
UEFA awards will be awarded during the Champions League group stage draw taking place on August 26.
