Vasyl Maliuk, Director of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), said that the country’s navy suicide drone boats, including Sea Baby and Mamai, attacked 11 Russian warships.
He warned that there is more to come for the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the future.
`Let the Russians wait for the next explosion. We never repeat our actions and if they (Russia) change their defense measures against our drones somewhere, we
`Everything will come at the right time, you will see everything,` he warned.
On March 25, Ukraine announced that it had attacked two large Russian amphibious ships, Yamal and Azov, a communications center in Sevastopol and other infrastructure.
Open-source intelligence units and Russian military bloggers reported that Ukraine used air-launched Storm Shadow and SCALP cruise missiles supplied by the West.
Later, Ukrainian officials said the attack over the weekend had caused more damage to the Black Sea Fleet than initially reported.
Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk said the communications center of the Russian fleet and the Ivan Khurs-class reconnaissance ship Yury Ivanov were also damaged in the attack.
In addition, Mr. Pletenchuk said, Russian forces have recently rarely used Kalibr missiles to attack Ukraine because the naval base in Sevastopol is the only base of the Black Sea Fleet with the necessary infrastructure to reload.
According to him, Ukraine’s attacks prevented Russia from using the above base because of risk concerns.
In its daily report, the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said Ukraine’s attacks on the fleet would prevent Russian forces from redeploying ships to Sevastopol and the western Black Sea, photo
Last weekend, British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said Ukraine’s attacksĀ `are causing major losses to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, which is no longer functionally operational.`
Despite having only a small navy, Ukraine has used missiles and aircraft and drones against Russian ships, compromising its naval capabilities.
Last month, Ukrainian Forces announced they had disabled more than 30% of the warships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet since the start of the conflict.
Russia has not commented on the information and numbers provided by Ukraine and its Western allies.
Sea Baby and Mamai are two types of suicide boats domestically manufactured by Ukraine.
